Hello everyone! It is Kirbee here! At made590 we all take a few turns to blog about what is happening in made590 land and today I am super excited to share with you some new arrivals that we have had in the works for a while, behind the scenes!
Here at made590 we are big fans of Supayana’s work. Mixing cute and quirky fabrics with printed scarf inserts by some of her favourite illustrators as well as her own illustrations, Supayana creates quirky and cute clothes for Adults and Kids.
The designer behind Supayana, Yana Gorbulsky, was born in Moscow, Russia and moved to New York with her family when she was a little girl. She always had a love for sewing and creating, so it was inevitable that she would have her own line of clothing. Yana started Supayana in Brooklyn in 2003, before settling in beautiful Montreal, Canada.
Being as excited by the gorgeous pieces that Yana creates as we are, we thought, why not do a collaboration with Yana and create some Supayana Tops using our made590 fabrics and with some new illustrations?!
So we did!
We have been working away to find the perfect fabric and finishing touches to make the Yana tops truly special! We searched high and low for the perfect fabrics to make these cute tops out of and we are retty chuffed with the final results. We think the Yana tops are sure to brighten your day!
In the process of creating these tops I was asked to create a couple of scarf inserts to go along with the new Supayana and made590 tops and created one new illustration, Town Square, as well as reworking one of my favourite illustrations, A Woodland Gathering, to be turned into inserts. I was naturally very excited, and with some ideas bounced back and fourth we came up with some ideas we wanted to bring to life.
Inspired vintage fabric designs but with a colourful twist, the Town Square illustration features brightly coloured houses surrounding a well in the town centre. With rolling hills and tulips and sheep as far as the eye can see, the Town Square illustration was super fun to create and a bit different to what I usually do! I think that is one of the best things about creating pieces like this, is that when you start you never really know where you are going to finish! The creating process is like a story! The Yana Top in Town Square has been teamed with a beautiful cotton voile fabric with cross confetti print and black pom pom trim, and is perfect teamed with your favourite skirt or shorts for summer! Available instore and online now for $88, the Yana top looks super cute paired with your favourite made590 skirt or shorts!
The next two Yana Tops both feature my Woodland Gathering illustration with an added gingham picnic blanket, which meant that some more bunnies joined the party! I am just slightly obsessed with gingham, so I am super excited to see all my loves (deer, bunnies, toadstools, polkadots, floral, gingham and you can’t forget the pom poms!) combined on one super sweet top. Available in a pink floral and pom pom combination as well as a super special Liberty of London fabric version, these two cheery tops are bound to brighten up your day, as well as day of people who cross your path! Available instore and online now for $88.
I hope that you are as excited about these tops as I am, I can’t wait to wear mine tomorrow!
It is so exciting to see the finished product! It’s always a pleasure working with you ladies <3
